Lo Scoglio Ubriaco

Snap(shot) Judgements are posts that will appear with no real regularity. It’s primarily a way for us to get thoughts and photos up as soon as possible, especially when we have no plan to write a feature-length column on the subject. Here, Kate enjoys a late lunch at Lo Scoglio Ubriaco in Cefalu, Italy.

Tired and hungry after an all night ferry ride from the mainland to the island of Sicily, my mom and I stumbled into this restaurant for lunch while walking around the charming old town of Cefalu. We inqured if there was outside seating, and were led through the restauant to a magnificant terrace overlooking the sea. We had a leisurely and delicious lunch, ordering many small plates to savor and share.

  1. Kate — Simple food and al fresco dining…..two essential ingredients in any vacation. At first glance I thought the chickpea
fries were little tiles of polenta….interesting interpretation of
“fry”. I especially liked the bruschetta and grilled radiccio (I might attempt that with a grilled fennel, extra virgin and
the juice of a grilled orange). Thanks to you and your Mom for the chance to vacation vicariously. See ya soon.
