Shake Shack Custard Conquest – October 2010
Snap(shot) Judgements are posts that will appear with no real regularity. It’s primarily a way for us to get thoughts and photos up as soon as possible, especially when we have no plan to write a feature-length column on the subject. Here, Gary shows off some photos from eating through the October 2010 selection of special flavors of frozen custard at Shake Shack.
This month, all seven flavors were new to me. All seven! Unfortunately, I only got to four of this month. Yeah, I know, I’m starting to lose some steam here but it’s tough to eat all this custard. Then again, I missed three of the custards yet still managed to come back for the S’mores (my favorite from this month) so maybe I’ve still got some juice left in me.

S’mores
Really, really good. Plenty of chocolate with a marshmallow swirl and just enough graham cracker crumbs to make you think of s’mores.
Orange Fennel
Some decent orange flavor but it’s hard to tell when the fennel absolutely overwhelms it.
Shackenstein
Vanilla custard that’s been colored green with chocolate cake chunks mixed in. It might’ve been better were it not for the cake chunks being icy solid.

Shackenstein! Haha thought this was funny when I was there too, but not as interesting or tasty as it looks unfort.
@A-Tooch I really think it’s the weird texture of the frozen cake that made it a loss for me.
