Red Hook Ball Fields Vendors, Part 2

Here, Gary makes a return trip (or two) to the Red Hook Ball Fields for the delicious Latin food he didn’t get to the first time around.

Not having had enough of the amazing Latin food there, I made another trip to the Red Hook Ball Fields only one week after my maiden trip. Which was followed by another one just yesterday, two weeks after the second visit. So if you’re keeping score, that’s three visits in four weekends. You might say I’m quickly becoming enamored with the vendors and their wares. You would be correct. […]

Momofuku Fried Chicken

Here, Gary follows up Momofuku Bo Ssäm with Momofuku Fried Chicken only a month later.

About a month ago, we celebrated Jess’ (Dave G.’s wife) birthday by partaking in the Momofuku Bo Ssäm experience. We all had a very good time, leaving there happy and full (for some of us, in pain as well). […]

Shake Shack Custard Conquest – May 2010

Here, Gary shows off some photos from eating through the May 2010 selection of special flavors of frozen custard at Shake Shack.

Another month, another seven days of custard eating. No repeats from March or April so all seven flavors this month were in play for sampling. But fear not, I’ve managed to yet again finish them all for you, our dear readers. […]

Red Hook Ball Fields Vendors

Here, Gary finally makes his first visit to the Red Hook Ball Fields and, more importantly, the food vendors that set up shop there.

Back in the day (so I’m told), the vendors would set up tables and grills on the perimeter of the ball fields every weekend in a very makeshift way, serving up delicious Latin food. Not only was it makeshift, it was also sans permit or regulation, meaning that the city was unable to profit off their enterprise. […]

Jimmy’s No. 43 Bacon, Chocolate, Cheese and Beer Tasting

Here, Gary indulges in plenty of bacon and cheese (beer too!) at a pairing event.

For a few years now, the New York City Degustation Advisory Team (NYC DAT) has been holding regular beer pairings at Jimmy’s No. 43 in the East Village. Earlier this week, I attended their latest, a bacon, chocolate, cheese, and beer pairing at the invitation of NYC DAT’s Chris Cuzme. With special guest Josh Ozersky of Ozersky.TV holding court, the seventy-five minutes flew by as attendees ingested copious amounts of bacon and cheese, washing all that fat down with beer. […]
