Tamarind Tribeca

In this solo dining adventure, Gary is treated to lunch at Tamarind Tribeca for his birthday.

I love my birthday – since it falls in the middle of August, it’s essentially a three-week celebration from the weekend prior and extending all the way until Labor Day. Why the lengthy celebration? Well, it’s near the end of summer so I never manage to have a real party until many weeks later (usually around Labor Day weekend) and the celebrating always starts a few days before it since that’s the way my family likes to do it. The Slanted Door

In this solo dining adventure, Gary and JP enjoy a light Vietnamese lunch at The Slanted Door in San Francisco’s Ferry Building.

By this day, our sixth in the Bay Area, JP and I were, if not food weary, then at least nearing the end of our ropes. As good as the food is out there, you get to a point where you get a little tired of eating out all the time. Park Avenue Summer

In this solo dining adventure, Gary makes a Restaurant Week visit to the restaurant that changes with the seasons, Park Avenue Summer.

Park Avenue is one of those fancy restaurants that’s been on my radar for some time but have never gotten around to. Whether it be its Winter, Spring, Summer, or Autumn incarnation, I’ve just never felt the overwhelming desire to go to there. It’s certainly not the kitschiness of changing their name every season. I mean it’s definitely kitschy but I like the changing of the name and the decor every three months – it’s nice. That sort of gimmick might be a turnoff for some but not so much for me. [...]
